Applying online? You need a digital file. Applying by mail? You likely need prints. Here is how to navigate the formats.

Digital Photos (eVisas & Online Renewals)

Digital files have specific pixel dimensions (e.g., 600x600px for US) and file size limits (e.g., under 240KB). If you upload a 5MB high-res photo, the website will reject it. SnapPass automatically resizes your image to these exact specs.

Physical Prints

If you need to print:

  • Paper: Must be photo-quality glossy or matte paper. No regular printer paper!
  • Size: Usually 2x2 inches (US) or 35x45mm (EU/UK).
  • Tip: Download our 4x6 inch printable template. It fits 4 passport photos. You can print this as a standard 4x6 photo at any pharmacy for usually less than $0.50.
